Silvia Eva Kahn was born in Caracas, Venezuela, January 16th, 1949 of Austrian and Turkish parentage. Her father, a prominent architect, a graduate from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, has been for her a great inspiration. Kahn has attended schools in Barbados, Canada, New York City and the Hetzendorfer Modelschule in Vienna, Austria, where she graduated after 5 years with high honors in fashion design. Her multicultural background, together with her international schooling have influenced her unique technique and sophisticated style.

She paints primarily with gouache (opaque watercolor), with pencil and pastel on paper. The spontaneous lines and brush strokes, color, and dynamic composition reflect her vibrant personality. Her favorite subjects are Danzantes (abstract cubist figures), colorful tropical florals, and still lives.

Silvia has lived in the Virgin Islands for over a decade. She has had many one-person shows, won several awards, and has taken part in many group exhibitions at galleries in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Florida, Venezuela, St. Martin and St. Barthelemy in the French West Indies, just to name a few. Her work is currently on display at the historic Camille Pissarro Art Gallery, and at her open-air exhibition under the umbrella in Palm Passage, downtown St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
